EuBIC 2018 developer's meeting

9–12 January 2018, Ghent, Belgium

The aim of the EuBIC developer's meetings is to bring together scientists active in the field of bioinformatics and computational proteomics. In January 2018 the first ever EuBIC developer's meeting was held in Ghent, Belgium.

The EuBIC developer's meetings are organized by the European Bioinformatics Community (EuBIC), an initiative of the European Proteomics Association (EuPA) for user-oriented bioinformatics.

The EuBIC 2018 developer's meeting kicked off with several keynote presentations by internationally renowned invited speakers in the field of computational proteomics. During these interactive sessions the necessities and outstanding opportunities for bioinformatics applications in proteomics research were highlighted.

This was followed by a hackathon during which the participants developed bioinformatics tools and resources based on community-driven topics. The participants broke up into small groups to work together on these topics in an open, constructive, and productive atmosphere.

We want to thank all participants for their valuable contributions. Together we succeeded in making the inaugural EuBIC developer's meeting a big success!
