Evolutionary computation has become an important problem solving method among many researchers working in the area of computational intelligence. In a hybrid evolutionary algorithm, a classic evolutionary method can be assisted by various techniques including evolutionary algorithms themselves, Neural Networks, Fuzzy logic, Particle Swarm Optimization, Ant colony Optimization, Variable neighborhood search, other local search methods, or even exact optimization techniques such as the branch-and-bound.

Evolutionary computation has established itself as a powerful technique for the design, search and optimization in a number of industry sectors such as logistics, supply chain etc.., with a number of applications such as intelligent routing, scheduling, timetabling and planning. There is however a lot of scope for further application and use of hybrid evolutionary algorithms in different sectors. In this session we are interested in both the theory of the new hybrid evolutionary methods and their applications in different industry sectors such as tourism, mining, transportation etc. We invite case studies detailing success scenarios and pitfalls of the use and application of the hybrid evolutionary methods to different industry sectors.
