CFP-Special Session on Cellular GAs - EVOLVE 2011

E-mail Print PDF

Cellular Genetic Algorithms defines a new class of optimization algorithms based on the concepts of structured populations and Genetic Algorithms (GAs). They are very efficient search techniques that clearly outperform other centralized and decentralized GAs for a wide variety of problems. Additionally, their particular population structure makes them highly suitable for efficient parallelization, specially for massively parallel architectures, as GPUs.

CEC 2011 will bring together researchers and practitioners in the field of evolutionary computation and computational intelligence from around the globe. Technical exchanges within the research community will encompass keynote speeches, special sessions, tutorials and workshops, panel discussions as well as presentations and posters. Participants will be treated to a series of social functions and networking sessions, which will serve as a vital channel to establish new connections and foster lasting friendship among fellow counterparts in a very unique New Orleans style. The registration fee includes tutorials, workshops, technical presentations, exhibits, three keynote addresses, competitions and more, along with a banquet, a dinner cruise, a reception and three lunches. CEC 2011 will be held at the finest hotel in New Orleans - the Ritz Carlton - where we have secured exceptionally favorable rates. New Orleans is renowned as one of the most distinctive cities in the world with a blend of cultures, historic buildings, world class music and amazing cuisine. CEC 2011 is located in the center of it all - the French Quarter. See for complete information.

Engineering Optimization

Special issue on

Multiobjective Metaheuristics for Multidisciplinary Engineering Applications

Multiobjective optimization arises in many real-world engineering applications, in which several optimization criteria conflict with each other. Since no single solution can optimize all the objectives simultaneously, metaheuristics are designed to find a set of solutions that help engineers to choose the optimal trade-off according to their needs. Besides, solving real-world problems faces metaheuristic algorithms to additional challenging tasks, such as high computational requirements, hardly constrained, high dimensionality, etc. These challenges have to be addressed properly in order to provide these kind of problems with high quality solutions. Multiobjective optimization has therefore attracted growing attention and become one of the hottest research topics in the area of the metaheuristics.

This special issue of Engineering Optimization invites submissions that cover (but are not limited to):

  •   Novel uses of multiobjective metaheuristics in the fields of

  • software engineering,

  • telecommunications,

  • bioinformatics,

  • economics and finance,

  • scheduling,

  • cutting and packing,

  • etc.

  •   Extensions of existing approaches to tackle engineering problems.

  •   Hybrid multiobjective optimization.

  •   Problems with increasing number of dimensions (large scale).

  •   Multiobjectivization: approaching single objective optimization problems with multiobjective metaheuristics.

  •   Rigorous comparisons across techniques.

  •   Real-world problems.

Prospective authors are encouraged to provide the results with confidence by using the appropriate statistical tests (ANOVA, Wilcoxon, etc.).

Important dates

  • Submission deadline : 28th January, 2011
  • First round of reviews completed: 15th April, 2011
