of the Lepidoptera of Belgium

Coleophora albella (Thunberg, 1788)

A very rare species in Belgium. Only known from NA before 1980. We suppose this species is now extinct in our country.

The larvae are making a case from the seeds of Silene (ssp.) mostly on Silene flos-cuculi in which they overwinter. Pupation takes place in May.

The adults are on the wing from the end of May till well in July.
