of the Lepidoptera of Belgium

Coleophora tanaceti Müllig, 1865

An  uncommon species in Belgium, but as with many members of this family, it's often overlooked.

The larva lives in a brown tubular silken case on Tanacetum vulgare usually attached to the flower heads. It rarely behaves as a leafminer and generally it lives in the inflorescense of the food plant. Pupation in the case.

The adults fly from late May towards July.
