of the Lepidoptera of Belgium

Acompsia cinerella (Clerck, 1759)

A rare and seldom seen species in Belgium.

The larva feeds in moss at the base of a tree. It probably also feeds on moss growing on the ground.

The adults fly in one generation a year; from June onwards till beginning of August. They come occasionally to light.

Belgium, Namur, Ave-et-Auffe, 22 July 2005.
