of the Lepidoptera of Belgium

Exoteleia dodecella (Linnaeus, 1758)

In Belgium mainly observed in the Kempen, but probably overlooked elsewhere.

When young, the larva mines in a needle of Pinus sylvestris. After hibernation it continues feeding in shoots and between spun needles.

The adults fly in June and July. They come to light.

Belgium, Antwerpen, Kalmthout, 11 July 2005.
