of the Lepidoptera of Belgium

Cyclophora puppillaria (Hübner, 1799)

A very rare vagrant in Belgium, not seen every year. There are more records in the south of the country, especially in the province of Namur were it is perhaps a transitory resident.

The larva is polyphagous and can be found on Quercus and Cistus. In southern Europe it lives mainly on evergreen oak. Hibernates as pupa.

The adults have been observed from May till October. They come readily to light.
