of the Lepidoptera of Belgium

Idaea rusticata ([Denis & Schiffermüller], 1775)

A rare species in Belgium, most observations are from the coast, the limestone area in the province of Namur and in the Gaume.

The larva lives on fallen leaves. Hibernates as larva and pupates in a cocoon among plant debris.

The adults fly in two generations a year; onwards from June till early October. They are active at dusk and during the night. They come to light and sugar.
