Idaea serpentata (Hufnagel, 1767)

A very rare species in many parts of Belgium, but mainly in the southern area.

The larva lives on a great variety of herbaceous plants, a.o. Galium, Taraxacum, Rumex and Thymus. Hibernates as larva and pupates among plant debris.

The adults fly from late June till early August. They are easily disturbed during the day and come to light.
