Philereme transversata (Hufnagel, 1767)

A scarce species until recently confined to the southern part of Belgium. Recently (2009) also discovered in the Kempen.

The nocturnal larva lives on Rhamnus catharticus. Hibernates as egg on the food plant.

The adults fly in June and July. They are active from dusk onwards and later come to light.
