Stegania cararia (Hübner, 1790)

A very local and very rare species in Belgium. Since 2006 more observations became known from other provinces but it's not known yet, if these are vagrants or perhaps small populations exists there.

The larva lives on Populus.

The adults fly from May till mid July. They are attracted to light.
