of the Lepidoptera of Belgium

Parornix devoniella (Stainton, 1850)

A common species throughout Belgium.

The larvae feed on Corylus avellana, when young, in a small squarish or triangular blotch at the underside of a leaf, later on, in at least two successive folds constructed upwards on the leaf margin. Pupation in that folded leaf edge.

The adults fly in two generations a year: in May and again in July-August. They come to light.

Belgium, Namur, Olloy-sur-Viroin, 29 October 2006.
