Malacosoma castrensis (Linnaeus, 1758)

A rare and very local species in Belgium, only known from the Kempen and the south of the country.

The larvae live on different species of herbaceous plants like Calluna. Hibernates as egg.

The adults fly from mid June till late August. They come to light.
