Macdunnoughia confusa (Stephens, 1850)

A rather common migrant in Belgium. Numbers vary much over the years.

The larva lives on different herbaceous plants, especially on Urtica dioica and others including Lamium, Chamomilla and Artemisia absinthium. Hibernates as a larva among plant debris.

The adults fly in three generations a year from April till October. Most specimens have been observed in August. They are active during the day and also at night. They come to light and less to sugar.
