Mythimna straminea (Treitschke, 1825)

A not so common species throughout Belgium, most records are from the northern part. 

The larva lives in the stem of Phragmites and Phalaris. Hibernates as a small larva.

The adults fly from June till late August in one generation a year. Sometimes a partial second generation occurs till October. They come to light and sugar.

ID: The species can be recognized from its congeners by a narrow black line across the forehead (see More pictures).
