of the Lepidoptera of Belgium

Senta flammea (Curtis, 1828)

A scarce and local species in Belgium, occuring in only four provinces. Concentrations are found in the Kempen, the centre of the country and in the Gaume.

The larva lives on Phragmites australis. Hibernates as a pupa, usually in a broken, but standing, hollow reed stem sealed with silk.

The adults fly from beginning of May till end of June in one generation a year. They come readily to light.
