Catalogue
of the Lepidoptera of Belgium

Epinotia demarniana (Fischer von Röslerstamm, 1840)

A local species in Belgium, mainly observed in the northern provinces.

The larva lives in a catkin of Betula, Alnus glutinosa or Salix caprea. It hibernates and pupates in a cocoon amongst leaf-litter on the ground.

The adults fly in June and July. They rest high in the trees during daytime. Towards dusk, they fly high about the trees and later come to light.
