of the Lepidoptera of Belgium

Pandemis heparana ([Denis & Schiffermüller], 1775)

A common species throughout Belgium.

The eggs are laid in batches of 30-50 on the upper leaf surface of a great variety of trees and shrubs and the young caterpillars hibernate. In spring they live in a rolled leaf. Pupation takes places in this roll or between spun leaves.

The adults fly from the end of May till mid September. They are active in the dusk and come to light.
