of the Lepidoptera of Belgium

Retinia resinella (Linnaeus, 1758)

A rather common species throughout Belgium, though mostly never in great numbers.

The larva lives in the shoots of Pinus sylvestris where it causes a resin gall to develop. The development takes two years.

The adults fly in May and June. They are active at dusk and come to light.
