Epirrhoe galiata ([Dennis & Schiffermüller], 1775)

A very rare and very local species in Belgium. Most observations are from the coast and from the south of the country.

The larva lives on Galium. Hibernates as a pupa in a cocoon among plant debris.

The adults fly from May till mid July, sometimes a partial second generation occurs in August and September. They can be seen during the day, but are most active from dusk onwards and later come to light.
